At least 10 copywriting tips to increase traffic
May 31st, 2008 Print This Post

I found a great and get this, FREE, e-book called Viral Copy that was written by Brian Clark, who blogs about copywriting techniques at Copyblogger (www.copyblogger.com) and it offers tons of ideas. And since I got it for free, and Brian gives permission to redistribute this (what a concept! Hmmm, I wonder if he knows about Creative Commons too?), I am offering it to you for free too. I learn a little something new every day. Today I learned, from The Frosty.com and MySEOBlog.com, that by default, WordPress enables Rel=Nofollow on all comments. Ostensibly, this was to prevent spam. It appears, according to the conventional blogging wisdom, to also reduce commenting. So, since the level of commenting I have received has been close to nothing, I figured I don’t have much to lose if I change Nofollow to Dofollow. So as of now I am officially a DoFollow site.

I feel a song coming on!
May 28th, 2008 Print This Post

Warning! Stand clear - I feel a song coming on! Looks like from last count, this will be Musing Mana # 5

I had one of these experiences that I think songwriters long for: The Instant Jello Experience. Suddenly, a song, lyrics…verses, chorus and music, just gels up and comes into being seemingly out of nowhere.

At least, that is how it kind of felt at the time. In reality, I know that my mind had been accumlating bits and pieces and mulling over things for a long time.

What is “Musing Mana”?
May 28th, 2008 Print This Post

I thought before I publish my next post after this one, I should probably restate what “Musing Mana Song Project” is,  since after reviewing my archives, it appears I never actually devoted one post explicitly to it.  I did mention it on the FAQ page, and here is what it says there:

My current project on this site is called Musing Mana, in which I am producing a new song as often as possible and releasing it for free as a Podcast/Netcast for an entire year. Afterwards, I plan to offer all of these songs on CD format in their original order (and state of completion), and also at my online store, or from iTunes.

Oops…I forgot one other to include in the list:

Truefire. What is Truefire you ask? Here is what they say:

What is TrueFire?

Creating more interconnections
May 26th, 2008 Print This Post

It has been said (by Kevin Kelly ) that the Internet is a gigantic copy machine. It’s also a fact that the more digital connections there are to a piece of information, the higher the probability that it will be “stumbled upon” by a cyber seeker or seekers and in turn more likely to be copied again. In the spirit of my goals for this project some additional links in the kilika web have been created:

Have you heard of ReverbNation?
May 23rd, 2008 Print This Post

Well, I am now on it:  ReverbNation.  You can find my profile at:  http://www.reverbnation.com/chrishartzog

I think it is an awesome service for artists and totally free.  There are many more tools available than through MySpace’s music service.  Let me know if you like it.

Might as well start the day off with a chuckle!

Are you busy next Saturday evening?
May 22nd, 2008 Print This Post

Just a reminder that I will be playing next Saturday (5/31) in Woodinville Concert Band’s Spring Concert. So, if you want to enjoy some free music, including some free PR for Harrison Ford - Indiana Jones, you can stop in and listen to us play Raiders of the Lost Ark and many more tunes.

Next Saturday at 7:00 pm. It’s free too.

Do you work at Microsoft? Do you know someone with autism? or Alzheimer’s?
May 19th, 2008 Print This Post

I am going to try this one more time. I know I haven’t gotten anyone’s attention yet, and that is okay. I am patient and I believe this is an idea that deserves waiting on.

Do you work for Microsoft? Do you live in the Seattle area or know someone who lives here?

Did you know Wired Magazine ran an article (The Geek Syndrome) discussing findings of autism rates much higher than average among children of high tech workers in Silicon Valley? Other research has uncovered similar links.
