Congressional Inquiry:  Restraint and Seclusion

Deadline:  Friday, August 14, 2009

National Protection and Advocacy has a Congressional inquiry regarding the use of restraint and seclusion in Washington schools and wants to hear of any examples of abusive situations.

Washington state’s protection and advocacy organization (Disability Rights Washington www.DisabilityRightsWA.org) is interested in any situation in a public school within the last two school years (07/08 and/or 08/09) where restraint and/or seclusion (including but not limited to time out rooms) was used in a manner in which the parents or someone else at the school deemed inappropriate and abusive.

Please do not include any personally identifying information if you wish to remain anonymous.  Send all responses via email or snail mail (USPO) by Friday August 14, 2009 to:
