We spent Saturday evening enjoying Michael Powers and his band scooping out some great soul in celebration of the release of Michael’s newest CD, “Soul School”. The band managed to out-run the rain showers Saturday and they even brought out the sun at one point with “New Jack Jazz”. Michael is an incredible musical gift and Seattle is blessed to have him in our presence. Michael truly sings through his guitar and the band had the crowd up and dancing. I can’t think of a better spot for a concert than at Port Gardner Landing in Everett’s Marina Village surrounded by the water, incredible boats and yachts, the mountains and fragrances of Italian cooking coming from Lombardi’s restaurant.
I was also impressed by my little Cannon PowerShot camera which has a video recording function that I never tried until Saturday night. I couldn’t resist both capturing Michael’s music but also “the cane lady” as she boogied down on the dance floor!
Check it out – “New Jack Jazz” with the Boogie Down Cane Lady:
I also grabbed this clip (partial because I not yet figured out that my camera’s auto power save would kick in if I didn’t pay attention….):
And this clip (partial):
